UK Travelers Urged To Take Out Annual Travel Insurance
Swiftcover.com is urging UK travelers to look into annual travel insurance if they travel overseas more than several times a year. Swiftcover.com is an online insurance provider that says many travelers are paying more than they have to for holiday insurance. Swiftcover says British travelers choosing single-trip cover, instead of annual travel insurance. Purchasing annual travel insurance, according to Swiftcover, saves travelers both time and money.
Due to cheaper flights and holidays, more Britons are traveling overseas. Research from Swiftcover shows that 55 per cent of people in the UK take overseas trips more than twice a year. Their research also indicates that one in eight Britons have taken more than four trips abroad in the past year. However, the majority of these overseas travelers only take out single-trip travel insurance or do not take out insurance at all. Eight-four percent of people will get travel insurance for the main trip they take during the year, but 19 per cent of these people do not take out travel insurance for their other trips. Swiftcover says purchasing annual travel insurance can save money and time for travelers. They say that a fifth of travelers are paying more than £150 for their insurance. Annual travel insurance can be purchased from less than £50, saving British travelers up to £153. Annual travel insurance also saves time, as buying the policy is a single transaction. It saves the travelers from having to arrange cover for every single trip they make. The UK Department of Health has advised travelers to take out private travel insurance, instead of relying on the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Experts have warned that the EHIC only provides basic cover and will not cover all of the medical treatment that may be needed during a holiday. Swiftcover offers a multi-trip policy and says that it will cover UK travelers for all their trips and will actually cost less than insurance for a single trip through a tour operator. |
