Flight Insurance - How to Make a Claim?

When discussing flight insurance, there are basically two types of coverage, flight accident insurance and flight travel insurance. Sometimes your policy will include both. If you are going to be traveling by air, you may want to consider purchasing a flight insurance policy.

What is Flight Insurance?

Flight accident insurance is coverage in case of an accident that causes death or dismemberment while traveling with the airline. For a small fee, a traveler can buy a insurance policy that will pay a lump sum to them or their dependents should they die or loose a limb either on the airplane, or while on airline transportation to or from the plane. This is sometimes called flight life insurance, since it works like life insurance in the case of a death.

The other type of travel flight insurance is insurance that covers the cancellation of your flight for certain reasons. Sometimes this insurance is included with accident flight insurance. Flight insurance is important both to save you money when you are traveling if your flight should be cancelled, and to protect you in case of an accident that would keep you from returning to your job.

Types of Flight Insurance Policies

There are several different options when you go to buy flight insurance. Here is a flight guide to insurance travel.
Airline Trip Cancellation Coverage
One type of airline travel insurance that you can buy is trip cancellation coverage. This type of insurance will reimburse any prepaid expenses that you would lose if your flight were cancelled, or you could not make the flight. You would receive payment if you or a traveling companion were sick or injured, making it impossible to make the flight. Also, a strike on the part of the airline would lead to coverage. Severe weather is also covered. If your flight were cancelled due to terrorist activity, you would receive reimbursement as well. In fact, you would even be covered if you had to miss your trip due to your house being destroyed by a natural disaster.
Airline Trip Interruption Coverage
Another type of flight insurance for travel you could look into is airline trip interruption coverage. This protects you in the event that you start your trip, but cannot fish it due to reasons that would be covered in cancellation coverage. You would be paid a partial amount of the cost of the trip.
Travel Delay Insurance
If your trip is delayed for a certain amount of time due to common problems, natural disasters or weather, terrorism, or other factors, travel delay insurance would cover you, giving you money to either return home, or finish your trip, catching a new flight in return for the on you missed.
Travel Accident Insurance
Flight accident insurance is the coverage for accidental death or dismemberment do to an airline accident. This type of insurance is usually very inexpensive, because the frequency of airline accidents is quite low. This is a good idea, especially for the main income earner of a family, since the amount you receive from the policy can help replace an income, should you be injured so severely that you cannot return to work.
Flight Life Insurance
Flight life insurance is sometimes included in the accident coverage. Flight life insurance covers the accidental death of a passenger o n an airplane. Again, this type of insurance typically has a low premium, because airline accidents are so infrequent.
